As we head into November and the ponds temperatures fall with the leaves, one is bound to have a moment of hesitation before plunging in.

I get hot after a run so why go into those chilly waters?

This is the precise place when crossing the wet, slightly slimy floor of the men’s changing rooms where my will-power is at its weakest. The point, if you like, of no return.

I can only hope to be able to do something like it in the future.
