Cedar Run Falls (Heathsnatches on tour)
That log is in fact wedged between the rocks, so the swimmer is not actually in danger. Nor too cold. It was near the end of the spectacular autumn show of colour in the Shenandoah National Park, Virginia, but it still felt relatively balmy.
The walks in Shenandoah generally involve walking down from the Skyline road that runs along this particular blue ridge into steep valleys with these wonderful ‘runs’ tumbling over rocks and tumbled trees. As the leaves begin to drop the sun can really get into these dense, mixed woodlands. But then you have to climb back up again. But first, have a swim.
