Djupfjordvatnet and Vågakallen
We ate our lunch on this mossy bank after swimming near Henningsvaer in the Lofoten Islands in the Arctic Nordland district of Norway’s coast. In fact, Djupfjordvatnet is two lakes. This is the higher fresh water lake surrounded by granite mountains, which feeds into a salt water lake. Both were crystal clear with trout swimming over the sandy bottom.
Only as we munched on our reindeer salami did we realise that high above us on Vågakallen mountain were a group of climbers abseiling their way down down the sheer rock face.
