Carp: mad for love
As I swam through the algae today there was a big splash like a bird landing on the water just behind me.
I turned just in time to see a large carp twisting out above the surface, it’s big scales shining in the early morning sun.
Apparently they are spawning at the moment. The males literally go mad with love and start acting strangely.
It seems they grow white bumps called tubercles over their heads and gill plates which causes them to move erratically, fighting each other and leaping out of their element.
